Now why not try out the tourist train from Palma to Soller?! Its a gorgeous tram-style train, that chugs through beautiful countryside, orange groves and mountains. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours from Palma Station in Placa Espana up to the centre of pretty Soller. In high season there is also a little stop with amazing views of the valley of Soller below, perfect for a stretch and photograph! There are no toilets on board, and no food or drinks services- so be sure to make use of the facilities at the station before you leave. In peak season it can get very busy- so queues of course are to be expected. Get there early to avoid disappointment at the ticket office- and take cash with you, there are no card machines! The bus service is fantastic in Mallorca, so save yourself a little cash by taking the train one way only and hop on a bus to return. Personally I think the journey is prettiest from Palma to Soller and not the other way, but of course either direction is still gorgeous. Timetables and charges can be found at the link below, and do take note that residents receive a huge discount so don't forget to bring your relevant documents if this applies to you. Unfortunately, this discount is soon to be stopped in April 2017, so make the most of it now!
Don't miss the wonderful Picasso and Miro exhibit at the train station in Soller- its free and packed with lovely pieces along with some interesting photos of the artists themselves.
If you decide to go visit the stunning beach of Port Soller, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to do both Soller and the Port- and definitely save a few euros by buying a combined ticket. Changed your mind? Don't fear, you can buy a ticket to the Port on the tram itself.
