CASTLE BELLVER

That castle perched on top of the hill overlooking the city of Palma is well worth a visit if you fancy a little, easy expedition. For adventurers, park your car at the bottom of the park by the main gates and hike through one of the many trails that lead to the top of the hill through the woods. There are maps dotted around the main road for a little guidance in this- and dont be daunted there are plenty of shortcuts to the top! Take a pit-stop at one of the GREAT play parks nestled in the forest- there are lots of shaded spots and picnic benches for the adults whilst kids can run freely in the sand pits.
We often drive straight to the top of the park (dont try and walk this main road, its a long long way!) and just go for a coffee at the onsite cafe- the views are fantastic and croissants yummy, often a nice place to take visitors in the morning (you don't have to enter the castle to make use of this cafeteria). If you have time- definitely take a look around the castle. Entrance fees are cheap, cheaper still with your residents card and totally free on Sundays!
The castle itself, built in 1311, is impressive and makes for a nice stroll as the 360 views surround the whole site. You'll probably have to whizz through the historical exhibits if with kids, but do make the effort to climb to the roof, you will be rewarded with jaw dropping vistas (and a lot of wind to battle against!)- and you really will feel 112 meters above sea.
